| Sea of Words literary event in Queenscliffe 29th to 31st May has the flavor of BIG BOOKCLUB with book discussions, a poetic lunch, readings, a literary dinner and a panel discussion....
The Selected reader is:- 'Walking to the Moon' by Kate Cole-Adams published by Text Publishing.
'A woman wakes from a coma, its cause unknown. She refuses to see her family; she does not say why. Slowly, almost reluctantly, she becomes stronger. Now she will walk. Where?'
Kate Cole-Adams is a Melbourne based writer and journalist. 'Walking to the Moon' is her first novel and was shortlisted in the 2006 Victorian Premier's Awards. This is '...not a novel about major events, at least not initially. Indeed, its real strength is in its sleight of hand. Facts are hidden and then revealed, characters color with each and every memory, and the landscape is exquisitely rendered through the eyes of the main character. What starts in a rehabilitation ward soon ventures out much further, from the lives of her fellow inmates to Jess's story.'
Sea of Words will kick off on the Friday evening with an open book club discussing this book.
If you are part of a local or regional book club or want to join in the discussion, please contact Monica of 0400 513 611.
On Saturday evening enjoy a Literary Dinner with Kate.
Also featuring in Sea of Words is a Poetic Lunch with Ballarat based poet Anne Gleeson about her recently published book of poetry 'In Between the Dancing'
Other writers who will join in the weekend activities are Paddy O'Reilly, Jane Watson, Janey Runci and Pam Baker reading their own work in 'Storytime for Adults' where you can enjoy the magic of having a story read to you.
