Queenscliff Kindergarten is an independent, not-for-profit sessional kindergarten with a local volunteer management committee. It is dedicated to providing a quality educational experience in a fun, vibrant and inclusive environment within its three- and five-year-old play-based kindergarten program.
Located next to beautiful Swan Bay, the children experience the wonderful delights of seeing birdlife of all sorts through the viewing windows in the playground fence and enjoy the occasional toot from the steam train as it takes sightseeing passengers for a ride.
The kindergarten is a special part of the community. Local schools and kinder invite each other to events, kinder is involved in the local music festival, and resources and skills are shared to make an enjoyable kindergarten experience for all.
The staff work to develop professional, supportive relationships with all families built on trust and respect.
They place a big emphasis on working with other schools and Early Childhood Services in order to provide consistent education through communication and collaboration where students use multiple services such as Lonsdale House and Queenscliff Kindergarten. There is a transition to school program in the year before kindergarten students start school – the kinder visit the schools and school children visit the kinder, establishing buddy systems (preps and grades 5–6 student connections).
