Great ideas for the new draft Council Plan
Thank you to all the residents and ratepayers who recently took the time to respond to Council’s request for ideas and feedback to assist the development of the new Council Plan for the next four years.
Officers are now reviewing more than 350 survey responses received by the end of February. In addition, Council received 262 worksheet submissions from local primary school students. This level of involvement from our younger residents in this consultation process is particularly pleasing.
The Children’s Summit held in February also provided valuable and creative ideas, along with ‘focus-group’ style feedback of the Community Summit to add to the survey responses received.
These comments will feed directly into the first draft of the 2017-2021 Council Plan and a second round of consultation including a 28-day formal submission process will commence in late April.
What is the Council Plan?
The Council Plan is the most important document that defines the priorities and guides the direction of Council over their four-year period of office. It sets out:
• What Council wants to achieve over the next four years,
• Strategies for achieving these objectives,
• How Council will measure its performance,
• The resources and funds required to achieve the objectives.
