Friday, 17 November 2017

Council is delighted to announce that the first stage of works involving weed eradication and replanting of indigenous vegetation at the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Reserve has commenced.

Members of the Green Army began work at the site on Monday 6 November 2017.

“The commencement of works at the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Reserve is a significant step,” said Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor, Cr Tony Francis.

“It is very satisfying to see this project coming to fruition after years of advocacy by Council and the community.”

As indicated the initial stage of the Green Army’s project will consist of large-scale weeding, and planting and management of indigenous vegetation. These activities are expected to generate a large amount of green waste for the duration of the rehabilitation project.

Waste removal will be managed by Council-appointed contractors. Residents may notice collections of green waste awaiting removal at various stages throughout the project.
