Council Community Development Grants open 1 May

Thursday, 20 April 2017

Does your community group have a great idea they would like to see happen in the Borough? Council’s Community Development Grants can help.

The Grants Program aims to encourage and assist community organisations to take an active involvement in the life of their community for the benefit of the community and its members, empower communities to become stronger and more economically, environmentally and socially sustainable, enhance leadership and develop a sense of pride, ownership and identity within communities.

The Borough provides grants to community organisations that support community, art and cultural projects and activities that enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of residents living in the Borough of Queenscliffe.

“Community organisations within the Borough do a great job on limited budgets, and it’s terrific for Council to be able to offer additional financial support through the Community Development Grants program,” said Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor, Cr Tony Francis.

To be eligible for a Community Development Grant, your community group must be a not-for-profit organisation that is able to match the grant amount on a dollar for dollar basis, either in cash and / or through in-kind labour and materials, and submit only one application.

Your group’s project must be managed through a legal entity such as an incorporated association, be of benefit to Borough of Queenscliffe residents, commence after 1 July 2017 and be completed by 30 June 2018. Multiple project components are permitted.

“If your community group has a bright idea for a project or purchase that will benefit the sustainability of your organisation and the broader community, I strongly encourage you to make an application for a community development grant,” said Cr Francis.
