The Borough of Queenscliffe has welcomed the Victorian government’s announcement to fund two significant projects – one in Point Lonsdale and one in Queenscliff.

Minister for Water and Police, and local member for the Bellarine, Lisa Neville MP made these announcements today alongside the Mayor of Queenscliffe, Cr Tony Francis at the Engine Shed, Point Lonsdale, following passionate representations by community members and the advocacy efforts of Council.

The projects will progress the much needed landscape improvements at the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Reserve and deliver modern facilities at the Queenscliff Recreation Reserve and Tourist Park and Ocean Vïew car park, together with the activation of key areas around Fort Queenscliff.

Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor Tony Francis was very pleased that the commitment extended to both locations across the municipality, after many months and in some cases, years of constructive advocacy and passionate community representation.

“Council has heard the message loud and clear from the community, these are important locations that require well considered and thoughtfully planned improvements,” said Cr Tony Francis.

Importantly, the establishment of the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Reserve reference group will enable the community to have a direct connection to the implementation of the Point Lonsdale project.

“We are fast becoming a destination of choice and today’s announcements pave the way for future generations to visit, enjoy and experience the very best of our region,” concluded Cr Francis.
