Council welcomes support for Queenscliff Cultural Hub

Thursday, 09 November 2017

The Borough of Queenscliffe Council welcomes the efforts by its local State Members including The Hon. Lisa Neville MP – Member for Bellarine and Simon Ramsey MLC – Member for Western Victoria in advocating for funding of the Queenscliff Cultural Hub.

Council has advocated strongly to progress this initiative and we will continue to pursue funding that will enable us to meet the expectations and aspirations of our community.

Located in Queenscliff’s commercial centre, the proposed Hub will create a multi-use community facility focused on innovative delivery of information, cultural development and services to residents and visitors alike, linking the Queenscliff Library and Queenscliffe Historical Museum to create a light filled, accessible community space that extends the existing library and museum facilities, and expands and modernises the Visitor Information Centre.

Council has formally applied for funding to deliver this project. In addition, Council’s G21 delegates presented the Hub concept, along with other local priorities, during the G21 Geelong Region Alliance delegation to Canberra in March this year and were impressed with the level of engagement demonstrated by senior members of the Federal Government and Opposition, including the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten.
