Future use of Queenscliffe Lighthouse Reserve
Council has formally resolved to examine alternative sites for new eco-cabins in Queenscliff following a request from Sarah Henderson MP, Federal Member for Corangamite and Lisa Neville MP, State Member for Bellarine.
Borough of Queenscliffe Cr Bob Merriman confirmed that Council was demonstrating its willingness to embrace the Federal and State Member’s request.
“A thorough examination of the existing Federal and Council agreement and an assessment of relocation opportunities by Council is an appropriate next step,” Cr Merriman said.
At its Ordinary Meeting held on 21 September 2017, Council resolved, as follows with respect to the future use of Queenscliff Lighthouse Reserve.
1. Note the concerns raised by the local Federal and State Members of Parliament with respect to the proposed location of the eco-cabins at the Queenscliff Lighthouse Reserve;
2. Request the CEO to prepare a report for the October Ordinary Council Meeting examining the following items:
- The option of relocating the proposed ten eco-cabins from the Queenscliff Lighthouse Reserve to the south east portion of the Queenscliff Recreation Reserve replacing the existing seven cabins in this area;
- Identify options for the relocation of the existing cabins at the Queenscliff Recreation Reserve.
“Council is very appreciative of the support and assistance given by our two local members,” Cr Merriman said.
