Hard rubbish collection for Borough residents

Tuesday, 28 February 2017

Residents living in the Borough of Queenscliffe are urged to start sorting and cleaning up around their homes in the lead-up to Council’s annual hard rubbish collection commencing on Saturday 1 April 2017. Please don’t place items on your nature strip before 25 March to help keep our streets tidy.

Residents are reminded to bundle and secure all materials to prevent them blowing away or presenting a danger to vehicles and pedestrians.

Visit http://www.queenscliffe.vic.gov.au/environment-and-sustainability/recycling-and-waste/hard-waste for details on what hard waste will be collected or contact the Council Office for advice.

When putting out hard waste remember not to put out hazardous materials for collection, particularly chemicals, medical waste, asbestos, chemical containers and LPG bottles. These items present a danger to your neighbours and people picking up the waste. Old mattresses and building waste from renovations are also not acceptable items for disposal in this hard waste collection.

The hard waste collection is only for large items that cannot fit into your kerbside bins and residents are encouraged to use their waste and recycling kerbside bins for smaller items during the year.

Please note that E-waste will NOT be collected this year. Local residents should save any e-waste items until the annual drop-off day on Saturday, 13 May at Ocean View carpark (at the southern end of Hesse Street, Queenscliff). Visit http://www.queenscliffe.vic.gov.au/environment-and-sustainability/recycling-and-waste/e-waste for details on what will be accepted at the drop-off.

Any illegal dumping of materials by non-residents will be closely monitored and enforcement action taken. Please note vehicle details and report any related concerns immediately to Council on (03) 5258 1377.
