Tuesday, 11 July 2017

It’s time to nominate the Borough’s best for a chance to win a 2018 Australian of the Year award.

If you know a local superstar who makes a difference in the Borough community, you can submit a nomination for 2018 Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year or Australia’s Local Hero.

“This is a terrific opportunity to recognise people in our community who help to make the Borough such a great place”, said Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor, Councillor Tony Francis.

Nominations for the 2018 awards are open now until midnight on Sunday 6 August 2017. You can click here to make your nomination online at or call 1300 655 193 for assistance.

All nominees must be Australian citizens. Nominees for Young Australian of the year must be aged between 16 and 30, while nominees for Senior Australian of the Year must be aged 65 and over.

Approximately 3,000 individuals are nominated for the Awards each year, with 128 of these extraordinary Australians recognised as State and Territory finalists. Those selected as State and Territory Award recipients go on to be finalists for the national Awards which will be announced on 25 January 2018 in Canberra.
