Nominations open for Australia Day Awards
Council is inviting nominations for the 2018 Australia Day Awards until 4.00pm on Wednesday 15 November 2017.
If you know someone who deserves acknowledgement for exceptional service to the community, it’s time to prepare a nomination for one of the following award categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Community Organisation of the Year
- Community Environment Project of the Year
“The Australia Day Awards recognise those people and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the community,” said Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor, Cr Tony Francis. “They also acknowledge the diversity of the programs run by volunteers, whose participation and involvement strengthens our community.”
Nominations must be submitted on the official nomination form. The nomination form can be downloaded from Council’s website, www.queenscliffe.vic.gov.au. Click here to download a copy of the nomination form.
Hard copies of the form are available from Council’s offices at 50 Learmonth Street, Queenscliff. The selection criteria for each award category are explained on the nomination form.
“Our past recipients share outstanding leadership qualities and commitment to others to make local community life richer for all. Most of them contribute their time and efforts on a voluntary basis, showing real dedication and generosity,” said Cr Francis.
All award nominations will be considered by Council’s Australia Day Awards Selection Reference Group, which consists of Councillors and community members.
The Australia Day Awards are provided under the auspice of the National Australia Day Council. The awards will be presented during the Australia Day celebrations on 26 January 2018.
