Outdoor exhibition gives a head start to youth art

Selected images from the 2016 Head Start Youth Art annual exhibition are on temporary outdoor display near the new playground at the Point Lonsdale foreshore and at the Queenscliff Harbour, to highlight the work of our young artists and encourage young people from the Bellarine Peninsula to participate in the 2017 exhibition.

The 2017 Head Start Youth Art exhibition will show in the HOUSE Gallery of the Queenscliff and District Neighbourhood House in September this year, and expressions of interest to submit artwork for the 2017 exhibition are now open to young residents of the Bellarine Peninsula aged between 14 and 20.

The theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘Our World’. Artworks may consist of paintings, drawings, sculpture, installations and 3D works, photography, pottery and ceramics, fabric and textile art, fashion, costume and wearable art, video / multimedia, film, cultural heritage and community projects.

The Head Start Youth Art exhibition aims to encourage young artists to express their creativity, ideas, talent and imagination in an exhibition made for youth, by youth. The 2016 exhibition at the HOUSE Gallery was the first Head Start Youth Art exhibition in the Borough.
