Take the Plastic Free Challenge in July
The Plastic Free July Challenge is coming to the Borough.
During July, residents in the Borough of Queenscliffe can choose to refuse single-use plastics such as plastic bags, straws and takeaway coffee cups.
‘Plastic Free July is a terrific program that has the potential to reduce waste and preserve the natural beauty of our environment,’ said Borough of Queenscliffe Mayor, Councillor Tony Francis.
There are multiple levels of participation available within the Challenge, to make it easy for people to get involved.
Borough businesses will be doing their bit by discouraging the use of disposable plastic shopping bags.
Plastic is designed to last forever, but single-use plastics such as plastic bags and water bottles are often used for a few minutes only. The Plastic Free July Challenge aims to teach people about single-use plastics and help people find ways to avoid using them.
