Budget and finance

The Local Government Act 1989 requires Council to prepare a budget for each financial year and provide the opportunity for people to make a submission under section 223 of the Act on any proposal contained in the budget.

Legislative requirements relating to four-year Strategic Resource Plans are contained in section 126 of the Local Government Act 1989. Section 126 specifies that:

A Council must—

  1. review the Strategic Resource Plan during the preparation of the Council Plan; and
  2. adopt the Strategic Resource Plan not later than 30 June each year.

At the Ordinary Meeting of Council held on Wednesday 22 June 2016, the Borough of Queenscliffe adopted the Budget for the 2016/17 financial year.
