The Queenscliffe Community Garden, located at Queenscliff Primary School, is an environment project that seeks to engage the Queenscliff Primary School and the wider community and give some hands-on education about how food is produced and how carbon miles can be reduced by producing food locally.
The project gives community members of all backgrounds and ages the opportunity to come together and learn new skills while producing food. The garden also contains a chicken coop and chickens are now producing eggs.
This year Queenscliffe Community Garden members are working with the principal of the Queenscliff Primary School on educational activities involving food production, including seed collection and propagation, composting and caring for chickens.
How do I get involved?
If you're interested in tending a garden plot, please contact Carolyn Williams, Queenscliffe Neighbourhood & District House Coordinator, on 5258 3367.
If you wish to visit or work at the site between 8.30am and 6pm on weekdays, you must have a current Working with Children Check.
