Fabulations: Queenscliff Lifeboat Shed Community Screening

Fabulations community screenings and stories and art in Queenscliff's historic Lifeboat Shedd

Step into the underwater world and stories by enjoying celebrated documentaries, short films and art in the ambience of the Lifeboat Shed. 

Fabulations run each evening on the long weekend, Fri 27 January to Sun 29 January, presenting:

-- 'Morrigan Performance Imprinted' - Opening Performance by artists Jessica Laraine Williams and Ingrid Petterson - Friday 27 January 18:30 (sharp). Assemble on the Queenscliff South Pier near the Lifeboat Shed. Free.

-- A Short Film program each night 18:30-19:30 (on 27 Jan, from 19:00) featuring water-inspired films from local artists, including Michael Morgan, Ingrid Petterson, Jennifer McElwee, Laine Hogarty and more. First time featured will be 'Lost To The Tide' – a visual and poetic narrative about the Queensciffe Lifeboat and the rescue during the dramatic collision that caused wreckage of HMAS Goorangai minesweeper (1940). The film is a project of artist Michael Morgan in collaboration with Maritime Museum, receiving Lifeboat footage support from Historical Museum (thank you to Ron Hodgetts).

-- Acclaimed Documentary each night featuring 1 of different storytellers, followed by 'Sea-Creatures Projection Party', 19:30 - 21:30:

Fri 27 Jan: 'Donna Haraway: Story Telling for Earthly Survival' (82 mins). A Fabrizio Terranova film (2016). EVENT HIGHLIGHT! (Art and Science)

Sat 28 Jan: 'My Octopus Teacher' (85 mins). Academy Award-Winning documentary film: a story of filmmaker Craig Foster, directed by Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed (2020). BREATHTAKING! (Underwater Adventure)

Sun 29 Jan: 'Melbourne Down Under' (41 mins). A story revealing the underwater world of Port Phillip Bay, a film directed by Geelong's Streamline media filmmaker Jarrod Boord and written by Sheree Marris. MUST SEE! (Local Marine Environment, Adventure)

Bookings required for seated program starting 19:00. This is family friendly and alcohol-free event.
