The Borough of Queenscliffe is proud to support our young people.
Queenscliff Music Festival FOOT-in-the-DOOR Program
FOOT-in-the-DOOR is a vibrant youth program that is supported by FReeZA and runs for the duration of the Queenscliff Music Festival. Its purpose is to help emerging young artists showcase their talents, and as the name suggests get a ‘foot-in-the-door’ in the music industry. It gives young artists the chance to perform live in front of an audience at a nationally acclaimed music festival, which is a very valuable and rewarding experience for those selected artists.

Head Start Youth Art Exhibition
The Head Start Youth Art Exhibition is an exhibition by youth, for youth, that has been staged annually since 2016 by the Queenscliff Neighbourhood House and HOUSE Gallery. In 2017 a selection of images from the exhibition were placed on temporary outdoor display at the Queenscliff Harbour. For more information about the exhibition, check out the Queenscliffe Neighbourhood House website here.
Young Citizen of the Year
Young Citizen of the Year is awarded by the Borough of Queenscliffe Council as part of the Australia Day Awards each year.
In 2019, the Young Citizen of the Year was awarded to Ruby Dalton.
Returning home from her part-time job, Ruby Dalton stopped to help a man who had suffered a heart attack while cycling. Demonstrating courage and presence of mind beyond her 16 years, Ruby performed CPR and defibrillation, with two other community members, until paramedics arrived.
Ruby’s Young Citizen of the Year Award recognises her initiative and sense of responsibility in a very challenging situation. Her calm, compassionate response sets a positive example for everyone in the community.
