Draft policies for inspection
The Local Government Act 1989 has recently been amended and is being replaced with the Local Government Act 2020. This new legislation focuses on ensuring Councils provide good governance and transparency as well as engaging communities before decisions are made.
The draft Governance Rules set out how meetings will run, how decisions will be informed and requirements for Councillors and Council staff during election periods and when disclosing conflicts and interest.
The draft Public Transparency policy explains what information will be available to the community and the types of things that will be made available upon request.
At its meeting on 23 July 2020, Council resolved to place these two policies on exhibition and are now seeking your comments.

Feedback on these policies can be made in writing via email or post to the above address. All written feedbackmust be received by 11:59pm on Sunday 16 August 2020 to be considered.
Councillors will consider the final policies for adoption at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 27 August.
