The Borough of Queenscliffe is committed to taking action to ensure its environment is sustainable into the future.
As part of this commitment, we've implemented a range of initiatives that will save energy, reduce carbon emissions and lead others by example.
Council has a dedicated Sustainability and Local Environment portfolio, overseen by Cr Tony Francis.
What's Council doing to protect our environment?
Council is leading the way to reducing emissions by changing its operations.
We've adopted a Corporate Carbon Neutral Action Plan and several actions have already been implemented. Council has:
- Installed solar public lighting
- Upgraded to energy-efficient lighting in Council buildings
- Trialled energy-efficient lamps in street lights
- Invested in 100% renewable energy for Council caravan parks.
Council is now working with residents, schools, businesses and community groups to develop an action plan to reduce emissions generated by the community.
