Join guitarist Ken Murray and violist William Vyvyan Murray as they perform music from Cuba, the Americas and Europe in a fabulous concert of chamber music.
The program will feature the Australian premiere of a work by the Cuban legend Carlos Farinas, the beautiful North American pieces 'Into the Radiant Boundaries' by Samuel Adler and 'In Daydream' by Nick Revel, and works by Chiquinha Gonzaga, Ferdinand Rebay, Ruby Hunter and Astor Piazzola.
Ken Murray is one of Australia's leading musicians,showcasing and recording Spanish music from the early 20th century, collaborating extensively with contemporary composers, and actively engaging in the performance of Brazilian and South American musical genres. He is the Professor of Guitar at the University of Melbourne and his compositions are played around the world. He founded Ensemble Three with Joel Brennan (trumpet) and Don Immel (trombone) in 2015.
William Vyvyan Murray recently returned to Australia after 17 years living and performing in Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris. He has been invited to leading classical music festivals like Verbier (Switzerland), Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival(Finland) Schiermonikoog and Wonderfeel (the Netherlands) and Podium Esslingen(Germany) and is one of Australia's best sounding violists.
He is excited to present this program which includes the world premiere of his new work for Viola & Guitar.
