We’re about to undertake a review of our Aged Care services to better understand if the services we provide will continue to meet the needs of our community in a financially sustainable way.
At the moment, the Borough of Queenscliffe currently provides entry level in-home support services to older residents through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).
Council is considering whether to continue providing aged care services, or transition clients to other care providers.
At this stage, there are no immediate changes to services. The care you or your loved one receives will continue as usual. A decision will be made in late 2026, and we will keep you informed.
Of the review, Mayor Donnie Grigau said "Council has proudly been supporting older residents through aged care services for more than 40 years. With significant changes occurring across Australia's aged care system, it is our responsibility to ensure any future decision is evidence-based, financially sustainable and delivers the best possible outcomes for older residents. This review is about making the right long-term decision for our community, not rushing to a predetermined outcome, and achieving the best continuum of care for older residents of the Borough."
More information on the review, including what has prompted this, what next steps may be and what services Council provides can be found on the link below.
