Fallen trees in Point Lonsdale

Following last night's major storm event, it's important to put your safety first as damage is assessed and repaired.

  • A number of large trees in the Borough have suffered severe wind damage or fallen down. Avoid walking under unstable or unsafe trees, and do not climb on fallen trees or branches.
  • Properties may be without power for some time due to infrastructure damage. Do not approach damaged powerlines. Visit powercor.com.au for updates on power outages.
  • Some roads into and around the Borough may be affected by blockages and damage. Road journeys and public transport may be significantly delayed. Avoid unnecessary journeys through affected areas.

Several Council services continue to be affected by storm damage.

  • Some of Council's Tourist Parks are closed. Victoria Park is closed to all bookings until further notice. Queenscliff Recreation Reserve is closed to all bookings today and tomorrow, with reopening dependent upon a safety assessment. Golightly Park is open only to prebooked guests and permit holders. Guests are advised to check for text messages informing them of updates, or check our Tourist Parks Facebook page: www.facebook.com/queenscliffetouristparks
  • Council offices and tourist parks are still without power. This means we are unable to answer phone calls or emails. Please check Council's website for updates at queenscliffe.vic.gov.au
  • Sunday's Queenscliff Community Market will be moving to the open space near the Bellarine Railway at the north end of Hesse Street. The market will be open from 9am - 2pm on Sunday.
  • We'd encourage boaters to reconsider launching boats from Borough this weekend, as fallen trees, cleanup works and detours may make it challenging to travel safely through the Borough
