At the September Council Meeting, Council adopted the 2025 – 2029 Road Management Plan.

The purpose of a Road Management Plan (RMP) is defined in the Road Management Act 2004 (the Act), which sets the following objectives:

1. To establish a management system for our road management functions, which is based on policy, operational objectives, and available resources.

2. To set the performance standards for our road management functions. The RMP details the Borough’s standards for how often roads and footpaths are inspected, what defects are repaired, and the timelines for repairs.

It also provides a policy defence against claims for damages against the Council arising from the performance (or non-performance) of road management duties.

Previously, the Borough of Queenscliffe did not have an active RMP in place. In early 2025, Council officers developed a draft plan with input from the Municipal Association of Victoria and JLT Public Sector.
